- Remove part of dash to access top part of HVAC control system. Use scan tool to activate HVAC doors & actuators. Found mode door, which switches between floor, vent & defrost only moves partially & doesn't open defrost door. Actuator needs replaced to correct problem. We could also set the door to the defrost position to pass inspection Contact Frank with findings & estimate. Frank decided to have us just set the door to defrost for now Set mode door to defrost & re-install all panels Tech laid two parts on passenger floor that needed to be removed to set mode door to defrost. If repairs are going to be made to have all modes work, those parts will be needed along with a new mode actuator.
